Effects of CCDP (RH - 531) on the Growth and Flowering of Certain Ornamental Plants

Abstract
Potted flowering ornamental plants (Chrysanthemum, Zinnia, Impatiens, Nicotiana, Silene, Fuchsia, Mirabilis, Salvia, and Gladiolus, etc.) were sprayed with varied levels of sodium 1-(p-cholorophenyl)-1, 2-dihydro-4, 6-dimethyl-2-oxonicotinate (CCDP, RH-531) in order to experiment their growth and flowering responses desirable for outstanding looks and a balanced dwarfing.
The effect of CCDP varied as the kind of plants varied and were shown to be either shortening plant height, or without the effect, or rather promoting the time of flowering, whereas delaying others. Occassionally increase in the number of petal per head and changes in the morphological characteristics (malformations) were also observable, indicating the fact that there is no consistency in the plant responses to CCDP among the plants unlike other growth regulators do, yet there were plants showing practically very useful nature with CCDP treatment.
